Who We Are
ConnectingVA is a website created by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) to provide a central resource for Virginians to learn about, access, and make use of transit options that meet their needs. DRPT partners with and provides funding to commuter assistance programs operated by transit agencies, local governments, planning agencies, and transportation management associations throughout the Commonwealth.
DRPT’s Mission
DRPT’s core mission is to facilitate and improve the mobility of the citizens of Virginia and to promote the efficient transport of goods and people in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner. Through efforts like ConnectingVA, we’re working with the Commonwealth’s residents and businesses to mitigate traffic congestion, improve air quality, save money, and move more people without more vehicles.
